2019 Forester bought 1/2019. Went away for the holidays [car parked in garage in NorCal -- ~55 degrees], came back after 2 weeks, and battery was dead. The interior lights etc were working but car would not start. Got it jumped, it failed again. Got a SB# from the battery settlement thing and got an appt at a dealer for a couple days from now.Jan 4, 2004 · On most cars, a "check engine" light means "tree-hugger alert" (gas cap may be loose). Tighten the cap, light goes out. In a Subaru with EyeSight, "check engine" comes on, EyeSight goes off, mode light flashes...BUT, it may take 2 days for the computer to figure out the gas cap is loose, and another 2 days to figure out that you tightened it.

When put on a code reader it gives and emissions code. Found something involving turning the engine on, then the lights on, pressing the Trip switch 4 times, then do the same after lights off/lights on again and 4 Trip presses, and that was for non-Crosstreks and about 6 years ago... Did not work, but maybe there's some method now to get the codes without a scanner for a 2019 Crosstrek.
