I would like to get a shorter, more open choked barrel. The smoothbore guns shoot pretty decently. The rifled guns are more accurate. I've shot/tested smoothbore Deerslayers, Rifled Deerslayer 2's and a Rifled "Deerslayer 1". The Deerslayer 2's with rifled barrels shoot great in 20 and 12ga. The Deerslayer 1 12ga with a rifled barrel (King Ferry).Redfield made one specifically for the 37 Ithica #551001, which was designed to deal with the recoil. Sadly they are no longer marketed, and used ones are far and few between. I believe Ithica used this mount as a factory option at one time on the Deerslayer.
