Jeep jk running hot
Does anyone else have problems with the JK running hot in this wicked summer weather (96 and high-humidity here in North Carolina). I have been running the a/c some and the Jeep (in town) starts to run really hot - in the 3/4 range on the gauge and just above. I have a 2013 JKU with 50K miles, engine seams to run hot, temp is around 220F, but at times when I open the hood, the hood prop is extremely hot to the touch and need a glove to use. Took it for an oil change and coolant love was very low; below the low level. No leaks or pools of fluid are ever seen.

Chrysler immediately said that the issue was due to a crack in the thermostat housing that was bleeding coolant back into the core. What also causes the JK/JKU's to run hot, especially the Pentastar, are the steel bumpers and winches we add on - this has a direct impact on the weight in front and they do run warmer.
