Just continue on your MAIN QUEST, build the small base they ask you to, follow all the directions, believe me they finally take you right to giving you a FREE Antimatter Blue Plan, after that you can make BOTH the Housing Unit and the Antimatter and combine them into warp cores.

You have to follow the awakening mission. You may be screwed because you should complete it before leaving your starting system. Collect a bunch of salvaged technology and start buying base bits till you get the hyperdrive quest, then follow the quest line.
