6 week old black copper marans
Jul 2, 2015 · Here are some pictures of him at 6 weeks. You can see he is already developing the copper tones in his head, neck, and saddle, and of course you'll notice the large comb. Here he is at 5 weeks, just a hint of coppering in his neck, and if you look close you'll spot a few flecks in his saddle as well. In two days, my Black Copper Marans will be 7 weeks old, and I am starting to question whether or not she is actually a hen. However, "its" comb and wattles are very light pink at this point, and would love any of your honest opinions. I am very sorry, the pictures are slightly out of focus.-Alexandra33

All of my research says copper on the shoulder by 3 weeks is a cockerel, and those that sprout tail feathers first are likely pullets.
